AMES, Iowa-— West Virginia will be without starting forward Brenen Lorient on Friday night when the Mountaineers face No. 3 Iowa State at Hilton Coliseum.
Under new Big 12 policy, teams are required to submit an availability report for all conference games, similar to what was implemented in football this past season. The rule is intended to increase transparency and aligns with professional sports standards, particularly as legalized sports gambling continues to grow. Teams are not required to disclose the reason a player is listed on the report.
Lorient is averaging 10.7 points and 5.7 rebounds through West Virginia’s first 13 games. He has added 22 blocks and nine steals on the season.
Also ruled out for the Mountaineers is center Abraham Oyeadier. Forward Chance Moore is listed as probable.
For Iowa State, guard Mason Williams is listed as out.
Tipoff between the Mountaineers and Cyclones is set for 9 p.m.
