A former West Virginia baseball signee has decided to commit elsewhere ahead of the 2026 season.
Catcher Michael Smosna, who according to a source entered the transfer portal on December 4, 2025, has committed to the University of Central Missouri, he announced on Instagram.
“I’m excited to announce my commitment to the University of Central Missouri. Thank you to coach Crookes and staff for the belief and the opportunity. I will always continue to trust God and the plan I know he has for me.”
Smosna started in 45 games for the War Hawks this past season with a .439 batting average. He also tacked on eight home runs with 58 RBI, 18 doubles, 16 stolen bases and an impressive seven triples.
Smosna committed to WVU on June 24 and signed on June 30.
