West Virginia has signed Trey McGlothlin, a hard-hitting linebacker from Bixby High School in Oklahoma.
Hailing from Bixby – a perennial powerhouse in Oklahoma’s 6A classification that’s produced its share of college stars – McGlothlin initially pledged to Oklahoma State in the spring. But after decommiting in late September, offers poured in from programs like Wisconsin, Texas Tech, Kansas State, Arizona State, Iowa, and Boston College. Ultimately, he chose West Virginia.
McGlothlin is a stat sheet stuffer who’s anchored Bixby’s defense through back-to-back deep playoff runs. As a junior in 2024, he tallied 72 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and 3 interceptions – two of which he returned for touchdowns.
This season, he’s elevated his game even further, racking up 68 tackles, a whopping 13 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, and another interception.
He is the teammate of WVU safety signee Emory Snyder.
