MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia baseball added a major piece to its 2026 recruiting class Saturday with the signing of outfielder Henkel Acevedo, a highly touted prospect from P27 Academy in South Carolina.
Acevedo, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound left-handed hitter from Lexington, S.C., brings a combination of size, athleticism and power to the Mountaineers. Known for his projectable frame and advanced offensive tools, he has posted exit velocities up to 108 mph in batting practice and recorded a 100-mph triple in game action.
He is rated as one of the more physical outfielders in the 2026 class and Acevedo features an upright, aggressive swing that produces natural lift and consistent pull-side power. According to Perfect Game, he’s also a 6.93 runner in the 60-yard dash and shows a loose, accurate arm from the outfield.
Acevedo, who has drawn national attention on the showcase circuit, is expected to continue developing as a middle-of-the-order threat at the next level.
