WVU Hoops Dominates Maryland In Recent Secret Scrimmage

By: Jonathan K. Martin | WV Sports Chat

The West Virginia men’s basketball team has sent an early signal of resurgence under first-year head coach Ross Hodge, crushing the Maryland Terrapins 95-73 in a closed-door preseason scrimmage at the WVU Coliseum.

The standout performer of the scrimmage was guard Honor Huff, who erupted for an impressive 32 points, including a scorching 10-of-18 performance from beyond the three-point arc.

Huff’s sharpshooting was a key factor in WVU’s commanding lead, as the Mountaineers attempted an astonishing 39 three-pointers throughout the game.

Joining Huff in the scoring column were Treysen Eaglestaff with 22 points and point guard Jasper Floyd, who contributed 11 points and dished out nine assists. The trio’s chemistry and offensive firepower highlights Hodge’s new system, which appears to emphasize perimeter play and ball movement.

The Mountaineers will face Wheeling in an exhibition on Sunday, October 26 at 4:00 PM.
