Andre Devine is no longer waiting and limbo. And neither is Rich Rodriguez or the West Virginia Mountaineers coaching staff.
On Saturday, Devine, who is a transfer from Jacksonville State, has officially been placed on the WVU football roster.
With the uncertainty of Tye Edwards future with the Mountaineers in limbo with a court hearing about his eligibility, and the fact that Jaylan Knighton was ruled ineligible, the facts were simple that WVU needed more depth in their running back room.
They now have that with Devine being added to the roster along with Tyler Jacklich.
Devine of course is the son of former Mountaineer legend and now current assistant coach Noel Devine. Although Devine was recruited heavily by former head coach Neal Brown, he ultimately chose to commit to Jacksonville State. Since then though, Rodriguez made his return to WVU, thus Devine entering the portal and officially being a Mountaineer this season.
West Virginia now has eight running back in its running back room and it looks like this.
Jahiem White
Diore Hubbard
Tye Edwards (if he is deemed eligible)
Kannon Katzer
Clay Ash
Tyler Jacklich
Andre Devine
Cyncir Bowers
The depth was looking depleted with just six running backs, but now with young legs added to the roster, Rodriguez and his staff have more flexibility and depth to make roster adjustments in camp and throughout the season.
