CHARLESTON, W.Va.- James Reese V scored 24 points as Best Virginia defeated Elite Nation. 79-68 on Tuesday night at the Charleston Coliseum to advance to the Elite Eight in TBT.
It is just the second time Best Virginia has become Charleston Regional Champions.
Elite Nation opened the game with a 15–3 run sparked by sharp shooting from Rashad Vaughn.
Best Virginia fought back to cut the lead to 15–13, but another Elite Nation surge pushed the margin back to eight.
At halftime, Best Virginia trailed 44–39.
Elite Nation opened the third quarter with a 10-3 run after a pair of 3s from Vaughn.
Fueled by strong defense and timely scoring, they closed the third quarter on a 16–5 run, cutting the deficit to just one at 59–58.
Isaiah Sanders hit a corner three to give Best Virginia the lead. Elite Nation responded with a 3-pointer to regain the lead before Best Virginia tightened up the defense before going on a 9-1 run heading into the Elam Ending.
In the Elam Ending, Johnson and Reese powered Best Virginia to the victory and a spot in the quarterfinals.
Best Virginia hosts Shell Shock (Maryland) on Monday, July 28, at 6 p.m. (ET) at the Charleston Coliseum.
