Former Mountaineer Miles ‘Deuce’ McBride is a busy man right now with his NBA career, becoming a new father and now an author.
McBride is coming off his best season with the New York Knicks, where he averaged 9.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. However, the feats don’t stop there.
In June, the Knicks guard and his girlfriend Ana Zortea welcomed their daughter, Ace. Days later he announced his new children’s book, “Deuce: The Champion of Friendship”.
Earlier this week, McBride was on the Today show promoting his book and confessed that it was always a dream of his to teach kids the lessons that he learned through the game of basketball.
“I’ve always wanted to be a role model to the kids and really just inspire positivity, change, and anything they put their minds to, they can do it,” McBride said about the book on the Today Show. “I feel like sports just brings people together, and it’s just been such a fun process doing this.”
The Cincinnati, Ohio native’s book is aimed at children 7-11 and is 40 pages in length. It can be purchased on Amazon for $17.
The book is based on McBrides’ personal values with themes of empathy, inclusion, and teamwork. Winning games is important but winning off the court matters just as much.
While McBride is busy with basketball and writing books, he still finds time to be a good father. Zortea made a brief appearance on the show and praised the basketball player.
“Honestly, he changes more diapers than I do,” she said.
McBride spent two seasons with West Virginia before being selected 36th-overall in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft.
