Wetherholt batted leadoff for the National League and in his very first at-bat blasted a 105.9 MPH double off the left center.
While that was his lone hit of the game, he had a hard hit line out to center field in his third at-bat. He also struck out and grounded out to the mound in his final plate appearance
Wetherholt is ranked the St Louis Cardinals’ top prospect at the moment by MLB Pipeline and he can play both second base and shortstop.
The 22-year-old Mars, Pa. native was promoted to Triple-A Memphis earlier this month and has been on top of his game. Wetherholt has a .364/.417/.909 slashline in his first 12 plate appearances with Memphis.
The National League defeated the American League by a final score of 4-2.
