West Virginia continues to bolster their secondary in the 2026 recruiting class, earning a commitment from Orland Park (IL) defensive back Vincent Smith.
The Carl Sandburg High standout unveiled a final three of West Virginia, Iowa, and Purdue in late June before making his final decision.
Smith was originally committed to Northern Illinois, but after taking visits to each of his final three schools during the month of June, he decided to back off that pledge and reopen his recruitment.
Smith, 6-foot-2, 200-pounds, is rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports with a player rating of 89. He is rated the No. 39 cornerback in the country and the 13th best player overall in the state of Illinois.
West Virginia currently holds commitments in the secondary from Emory Snyder, Emari Peterson, Simaj Hill, Rickey Giles, Aaron Edwards, and Jaylon Jones.
