As the baseball world turns its attention to the future, the National League All-Star Futures Game roster for 2025 has been unveiled, featuring a stellar lineup of 17 Top 100 prospects set to compete on July 12 at Truist Park in Atlanta.
Among the standout names is JJ Wetherholt, the St. Louis Cardinals’ promising infielder, who had a remarkable tenure with the West Virginia baseball program.
Wetherholt, who was the Cardinals’ seventh overall selection in last year’s draft, has spent this season with Double-A Springfield. This season he’s slashing an impressive .305/.430/.453.
In 57 games this year, Wetherholt has recorded five home runs, 27 RBI and 13 stolen bases. He leads Springfield in both hits (62) and walks (41).
Wetherholt is considered the Cardinals’ No. 1 prospect according to MLB Pipeline and is rated the 16th best prospect in baseball according to MLB.com.
