University High School (Morgantown, W.Va.) punter Jimmy Gregg, the nation’s top-ranked punter in the 2026 recruiting class, has announced his commitment to Syracuse, making the decision to leave the Mountain State for upstate New York.

Gregg, who earned the No. 1 punter designation from 247Sports, chose Syracuse over West Virginia. He announced his decision on social media.

In 2024, Gregg averaged 42.7 yards per punt on 37 attempts, with 21 pinned inside the 20-yard line and 9 inside the 10.

Gregg took official visits to both Syracuse and West Virginia in recent weeks in hopes of comparing both programs before making an informed decision. Ultimately, he decided to leave home and commit to the Syracuse program.
