Dominick “Dom” Collins, the former West Virginia University (WVU) wide receiver and 2023 West Virginia High School Player of the Year, has announced that he will be transferring to Concord University. The announcement was made on May 23 via Fresh Off the Clock’s Facebook page. This move allows the Princeton, West Virginia native the opportunity to continue his football career closer to home. Concord is located in Athens, West Virginia, just a few miles from Collins’ hometown.

Prior to arriving at WVU, Collins made waves at Princeton Senior High School. During his senior season in 2023 he recorded 83 receptions for 1,897 yards and 27 touchdowns, averaging an impressive 22.9 yards per catch. Additionally, he contributed 124 rushing yards and five touchdowns on just ten carries. He helped lead the Tigers to their first state championship game appearance in school history. His explosive play also earned him the prestigious Kennedy Award as the state’s top high school football player. The 5-foot-9 inch speedster also won the Randy Moss Award, which goes to the state’s best wide receiver. His blazing speed—reportedly clocking a 4.25-second 40-yard dash at a WVU football camp—made him an exciting addition to the WVU roster.

Collins joined WVU as part of the 2024 recruiting class under then head coach, Neal Brown, but saw limited action during his freshman season. After the first Spring camp under new Coach, Rich Rodriguez, Collins ultimately decided to enter the transfer portal.

After entering the portal, Collins heard from several schools, including Division I Morehead State from the FCS.

Transferring to Concord not only gets Collins closer to home, it also reunites him with a familiar face. Chris Belcher, who was Offensive Coordinator at Princeton from 2023-2024, is now the Tight Ends coach for the Mountain Lions.
