MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– The West Virginia University baseball team won the Big 12 regular season title on Thursday. Despite losing to Kansas 3-0 on Thursday night at Kendrick Family Ballpark, the Mountaineers clinched the outright title with Arizona State’s loss to Oklahoma State.
The Sun Devils’ loss secures the highest Conference win percentage for the Mountaineers in the 2025 season after tying a program record with 19 league wins this season, with two games remaining on their Big 12 slate.
It is the second conference title for WVU in the last three seasons. In 2023, the Mountaineers claimed a share of the regular season title.
WVU came into this weekend of conference play tied for the fifth-most wins in the country with 40 wins, which ties a record for the most in school history, matching the total from the 1994 season.
The Mountaineers secured the No. 1 seed in next week’s Big 12 Championship and will play on Thursday.
The top 12 teams in the regular season standings will advance to the 2025 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, starting on Wednesday, May 21 and running through Saturday, May 2.
