Appalachian State transfer cornerback Nick Taylor announced his commitment to West Virginia on Saturday. He is following Rod West, his former cornerback coach at App State. He made his decision just a few days after entering the transfer portal.

Taylor, who has three years left of eligibility remaining, played in seven games as a freshman in 2024. He recorded 10 tackles and one pass breakup.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Georgia native gives the Mountaineers an option with experience under his belt with a member of the new staff. Due to the first wave of the transfer portal and graduates, West Virginia was struck with key losses at the cornerback position. Taylor may get an opportunity at playing time immediately. At worst, he adds valuable depth at the position.
Taylor played 139 of his 147 snaps at outside corner, and he did not miss a single tackle.
The Mountaineers now have nine cornerbacks on their roster and will likely add one more from the transfer ranks.
