Former WVU Football Signee Transfers to Marshall

By: Brandon Walker

Former West Virginia cornerback Zah Jackson, who entered the transfer portal following the spring practice sessions, has found a new home. On Thursday, the Huntington, West Virginia, announced on X that he will stay home to play at Marshall.

Jackson was a three-star prospect across all recruiting outlets in the 2025 class. He was the top prospect in the state of West Virginia and the No. 92 ranked cornerback nationally by 247Sports. He signed with WVU football in December and enrolled early.

After spring practice, however, Jackson was among a series of alleged cuts the program made to get to the 105-player scholarship limit. He was initially recruited by Neal Brown and the previous coaching staff. At that time he held offers from Appalachian State, Liberty, Mississippi State, NC State, and Toledo.

Jackson was offered by Marshall head coach Tony Gibson on Wednesday and accepted the offer the next day.

The 5-foot-9, 180-pound all-purpose athlete helped Huntington High School to 47 wins in his career. As a senior, he averaged 9.3 yards per rush and 18.9 yards per catch on offense and recorded 22 tackles on defense.

Jackson is expected to enroll at Marshall in the summer.
