Presumed Offensive Starter No Longer Listed on WVU Football Roster

By: Brandon Walker

In a surprising move, Tight End Jack Sammarco, who was in line to start for WVU football, appears to be on his way to exiting the football program. No official announcement has been made by Sammarco, but his name is no longer listed on the West Virginia roster.

Most WVU players who are planning to hit the transfer portal were reported on by several media outlets after the Spring Showcase event. Two of those were fellow tight ends Johnny Pascuzzi and Jackson Accurdi. However, Sammarco was not listed among those on that list.

Sammarco was a three-star recruit out of Anderson High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the No. 66 prospect out of Ohio, and was the No. 96 rated tight end in Neal Brown’s 2024 recruiting class. He received offers from Power Four schools; such as Cincinnati, Duke, Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, Michigan, Penn State, Pitt, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech.

Sammarco caught one pass for four yards in the 2024 season and will have three years of eligibility remaining. We will provide update as soon as we can get more information.
