MORGANTOWN, W.Va.–The West Virginia University basketball team added another addition to the roster on Tuesday night with the commitment of DeAndre Thomas.
The 6-foot-7 forward had previously committed to North Texas in November but decided to follow head coach Ross Hodge to Morgantown.
“Excited to announce I will be following the previous North Texas coaching staff to (West Virginia),” he wrote on his X account.
As a junior, Thomas averaged 10.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game on a talented Allen High School basketball team. He was one of the top 75 forwards in the nation and plays for a Southern Assault AAU squad that produces some of the nation’s elite talents.
In the Allen, Texas native’s senior season, he averaged 10.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest and helped lead his team to a 34-2 season.
Thomas originally signed with North Texas over offers from Tulsa, UTSA, Rice, Holy Cross, Northeastern and a number of others.
