Former WVU Men’s Basketball Coach Bob Huggins appears to be leaving Morgantown.
According to a blog post by John Flowers at Best Virginia, the Hall of Fame Coach has officially put his Morgantown home up for sale.
Huggins’ time at West Virginia did not end on a positive note. He was reportedly asked to resign after a DUI arrest in the Summer of 2023. Afterwards, there were alleged disagreements between Huggins and the University about the details of the resignation.
Both parties have since moved on and Huggins has largely remained under the radar. A planned documentary about the legendary coach was in the works for this year but would eventually be canceled.
Huggins coached West Virginia basketball from 2007 through the time of his resignation in 2023. He led the program to a Big East championship and Final Four appearance in 2010. He compiled a 345-203 overall record during his 16 years in Morgantown. In addition to the Final Four in 2010, “Huggy Bear” led the Mountaineers to 11 total NCAA Tournament appearances and was the catalyst to some of the greatest moments in WVU basketball history.
Huggins won 935 games over a 43 year coaching career that began at Walsh College. He also coached at Akron, Cincinnati and Kansas State before returning to his alma mater in 2007. The former Mountaineer point guard also led Cincinnati to a Final Four in 1992.
Huggins’ house is currently listed for $2.195 million. The reason for the home being sold is not yet confirmed, but all signs definitely point to the retired coach leaving the town he’s called home for more than 19 years.
