West Virginia has a loaded high school class coming in for next season with two being perfectly graded by Perfect Game which a is 10/10 rating.
Those two players are outfielder Henkel Acevedo and pitcher Kyle Casteel.
For Acevedo, he participated inaugural Academy Baseball Association Home Run Derby where he won, but he also showed off light-tower power. Literally. In that derby he blasted numerous homers off of the top of the light poles.
Acevedo is currently rated as the No. 2 prospect in the state of Massachusetts and is projected to somewhere closer the round five of the MLB Draft.
As for Casteel, he is one of the high school signees that could potentially not make it to Morgantown and instead elect to sign with the MLB organization if he does wind up being drafted this summer.
Casteel is rated as one of the best players in the state of Pennsylvania, per Perfect Game.
Casteel has a fastball that reaches 92 and tops out at 95/96. He also throws a slider which produces more outs to hitters than his changeup.
He is currently projected, according to MLB.com to be selected in rounds 3-5 this summer. If that happens, and he likes the chances of running thrown the minors, we could see him signing a MLB contract instead of prepping for Morgantown.
