The Big 12 Conference released their annual award winners for the 2026 season and as expected, WVU baseball was represented.

The Mountaineers had four players on the All-Big 12 First Team. A second player was named All-Conference Second Team. WVU also brings home an individual award, as Maxx Yehl was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Year.

Yehl, along with fellow pitchers Chansen Cole and Ian Korn all received First Team honors. Catcher Gavin Kelly was also named as a First Team selection.

Outfielder Paul Schoenfeld was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team.

Yehl was one of only two unanimous First Team selections, along with Arizona State’s Landon Hairston. The Sun Devil outfielder was given the Conference Player of the Year Award.

Here is what the Big 12 conference office said about Yehl:

Yehl recorded the lowest ERA in the Conference with a 2.10, good for the seventh-best mark nationally. The redshirt junior tied for the second-most wins in the Conference with seven this season and boasted the third-best WHIP among Big 12 pitchers. He is the third Mountaineer in program history and first since Alek Manoah did so in 2019, to be named Big 12 Pitcher of the Year.

Five other WVU baseball players were named as Big 12 Honorable Mentions. They were: Reese Bassinger, Carson Estridge, Armani Guzman, Matt Ineich, and Sean Smith
