In the top of the ninth inning with the No. 15 ranked Mountaineers holding a 3-2 edge over the No. 7 ranked Jayhawks, Gavin Kelly stepped up to the plate and flipped the game on its head.
On a 1-1 count with one out, Kelly hit a two-run shot to left center field to ultimately help the Mountaineers field a 5-2 win and claiming the series over KU on Saturday afternoon.
It was Kelly’s 12th home run of the year and his sixth home run over his last 21 at-bats for the Mountaineers.
