The weekend rotation for the No. 12 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers will look different than the previous times this season.

Friday, the Mountaineers will rely on Ian Korn, who transferred in from DII, to make his first career Mountaineer start.

In 36.1 innings of work this year for the Mountaineers, Korn has only issues seven walks with 34 strikeouts. He’s also only allowed 32 hits with 13 runs allowed. Out of the bullpen this year Korn has worked a 3-0 record with a 3.22 ERA.

Friday’s contest will begin at 5 pm and will be streamed on ESPN+.

Saturday, Dawson Montesa will get the start. He gets pushed back into Maxx Yehl’s normal starting spot due to Yehl dealing with an injury. Yehl did tell WV Sports Chat he was feeling good ahead of this change, but he doesn’t appear to be ready to go for this week.

On the year, Montesa is 3-5 with a 6.16 ERA. In 49.2 innings he has struck out 61 batters with just 22 walks allowed. He’s allowed 35 runs over the 50 hits given up this year.

Saturday’s contest will begin at 3 pm and will be streamed on ESPN+.

Sunday’s starter with remain the same with Chansen Cole getting the go. He’s been a solid addition to the rotation this year.

Cole is 6-1 with a 2.82 ERA. Over the 51 complete innings of work this year he has 48 strikeouts with 23 walks. He’s only allowed 20 runs to score over the 37 hits given up.

Sunday’s contest will begin at 1 pm and will be streamed on ESPN+.

Every Mountaineer starter this weekend is a transfer from the DII ranks.
