Morgantown, WV – The NCAA Transfer Portal is off and running for men’s basketball. Following the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, players from all across the country entered their name into the portal, hoping to better their situation.
The WVU Men’s Basketball program is expected to be active in the portal in the coming days. Earlier this morning, they landed yet another piece to their rebuild under Ross Hodge.
According to Joe Tipton of On3, Boise State forward Javan Buchanan (6’7, 230 lbs) has committed to West Virginia University.

Buchanan, a former junior college transfer, spent the last two seasons with the Broncos. Across 68 appearances, the Indiana native averaged 11 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1 assist per game. He received an extra year of eligibility via waiver through the NCAA.
Buchanan garnered an All-Mountain West Honorable Mention this season.
