The West Virginia Mountaineers have moved up from No. 17 to No. 13 after its recent series win over then No. 22 ranked Arizona State Sun Devils.
West Virginia lost the first game of the series 14-4 but took game two on Saturday by a score of 13-7 and then completed the series win on Sunday with a 9-5 victory in a game where West Virginia did not score a run until the sixth frame.
West Virginia will play Arizona in a non-conference game on Tuesday night in Tucson, before returning home for a three-game series against UCF over the weekend.
That three-game set between the Mountaineers and Knights have a lot on the line. Currently, UCF is the sole leader in the Big 12, but WVU is chomping at their heels to overtake the Knights this weekend.

No. 13 #WVU and No. 23 UCF will go toe-to-toe for solidarity for the No. 1 spot in the Big 12 this weekend. WVU also play Arizona this week; however, that game does not count for or against in the Big 12. pic.twitter.com/UyUWH3exEj
Warren Nolan, also to note, WVU has moved up to 12th overall in RPI which is a 19-point RPI jump this week for the Mountaineers who previously sat at 31st overall in RPI.
Coincidentally, UCF is now sitting 31st overall in RPI.
The site also has laid out its predictors for the WVU-UCF three-game series. WVU earns the win Friday, 5-4. And wins the series by winning game two on Saturday, 7-6. Sunday however writes a different story with WVU suffering defeat to the Knights, 7-6.
