Former West Virginia standout JJ Wetherholt will make his Major League debut for the St. Louis Cardinals today against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Wetherholt will be batting leadoff.

This spring, Wetherholt hit two home runs and drove in seven runs. He recorded a total of seven hits and 13 total bases for the Cardinals this spring. Wetherholt also had an impressive slash line going .212/.386/.394/.780.
Wetherholt was the seventh overall pick of the 2024 draft, and was close to making it the majors last year but the organization held off to see how he would perform this spring.
Victor Scott, who is also a former Mountaineer’ is in the lineup playing center field and batting ninth for the Cardinals today.
