The West Virginia Mountaineers baseball program will start Big 12 play against the Baylor Bears this weekend. First pitch times are as followed; Friday night at 7:30 pm, Saturday 3:00 pm, and Sunday for 12 pm.
All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.
WVU is coming off of a 10-3 rout over Maryland on Tuesday. Prior to that the Mountaineers claimed another series win over Columbia.
In fact, WVU has not lost a series all season with series wins over Liberty, Kennesaw State, and Georgia Southern. WVU swept Georgia Southern and claimed two-of-three from Kennesaw State, Liberty and most recently Columbia.
Dawson Montesa, who is second in the Big 12 in strikeouts at 31, will start Friday night. He is 2-2 with a 4.71 ERA over 21 innings of work.
Chansen Cole and Maxx Yehl both are in the top of the league in ERA will split the weekend rotation with Cole going Saturday and Yehl going Sunday.
Cole is 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA and 18 strikeouts over 18 innings of work.
Yehl is 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA and 21 strikeouts over 17 innings of work.
Offensively, Matthew Graveline leads the way for the Mountaineers with three home runs. Paul Schoenfeld leads the way in RBI with 18, but Matt Ineich is on his tail with 16. Gavin Kelly, who’s really found his bat the last week or so has worked his batting average over .400 to .431.
