West Virginia freshman Weston Mazey, son of former West Virginia baseball head coach Randy Mazey recorded his first collegiate hit in WVU’s 5-2 win over Georgia Southern in game two of the doubleheader.

Mazey’s father reacted on social media.

“I’m not sure if all of you 1.8 million residents of West Virginia realize this but this kid has been waiting a long time to represent all of you by wearing this uniform,” he said. “I know he is very proud to be a Mountaineer!”

The young Mazey used to be a bat boy along side his dad watching WVU baseball. Now, he’s creating his own legacy on the diamond for the Mountaineers.
