Former WVU Football Star Receives Praise from NFL Coach

TAMPA, Fl. – On Saturday, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach Todd Bowles had some complimentary things to say about former WVU quarterback Garrett Greene. The former Mountaineer signal caller is now a practice squad wide receiver for Tampa Bay.

After Tampa Bay’s 16-14 victory over the Carolina Panthers in the regular season finale, Bowles met with the media. While answering a question about the solid performance by his defense, he credited Greene for his work mimicking Carolina’s mobile quarterback Bryce Young during practice.

“Greene, our practice squad receiver, did a heckuva job playing Bryce Young as quarterback and ran those guys around,” said Bowles.

WVU football fans have seen first hand how dangerous Garrett Greene can be with his legs. He ran for 2,128 yards and 28 touchdowns during his career in Morgantown. It’s nice to see the Florida native be recognized for his contributions at the next level. Hopefully, at some point in the near future, Greene will be elevated to the Bucs’ active roster and Mountaineer fans can watch him play on Sundays.
