Morgantown, WV – In a move that has been expected for months, WVU quarterback Nicco Marchiol is now moving on. Marchiol, who will have two seasons of eligibility remaining, announced his intentions to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal via X on Thursday afternoon.
Over four seasons in Morgantown, the Arizona product appeared in 23 games for the Mountaineers. Making 6 starts, Marchiol finished his WVU career with a 4-2 record, 1,462 passing yards, and 10 touchdown passes to 7 interceptions. He also made an impact on the ground with 341 rushing yards and 4 rushing touchdowns.
Included in his highlights during his time in Morgantown were two victories in the Backyard Brawl. Coming in for an injured Garrett Greene, Marchiol led a 17-6 win over the Panthers in 2023. This year, after being benched in the second half, he returned to the game to lead a 31-24 win over Pitt in overtime.
Marchiol becomes the 3rd Mountaineer quarterback to enter the portal, following Khalil Wilkins and Jaylen Henderson.
