Chase Meyer had an incredible second season with WVU in 2025 and is poised for another big season in 2026 which likely sees him being used as big time bullpen relief help.
He does have some starts at the collegiate level, but it’s very slim. In 35 games played for WVU he has only started in four of those games.
In his two-year career with WVU, Meyer does have stellar numbers overall as he went 10-3 with an ERA of 5.21 over 67.1 innings of work while producing 91 strikeouts to 62 walks allowed and had an impressive 12.2 K/9 ratio during that span of time.
As WV Sports Chat noted about Meyer in early October, if he can get his control under control this upcoming season then it should not come as a surprise if he hears his name called inside the first three rounds of the MLB Draft.
Scouts have told WV Sports Chat that he could be a Day 1 pick which is the first two rounds of the MLB Draft due to his electric stuff. His fastball touches 98 and a slider that hugs the corners of the plate along with a changeup that comes out looking like a fastball, but leaves hitters clueless most of the time. Meyer is also adding a sweeper to his arsenal.
In 2023, Baseball America noted that Meyer “might have the most electric arsenal of any freshman in the country.” That still continues to be the case for the now junior.
My prediction is we here Meyer’s name called in the middle second round of the 2026 MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox and will be assigned to the clubs Low-A Salem affiliate in late July, early August.
