WACO, TX – Former WVU walk-on Keaton Thomas took to social media earlier today to announce that he will enter the transfer portal after two seasons at Baylor.

The 6-foot-2, 229-pound redshirt junior walked-on at WVU in 2022 as a defensive back. After a lone redshirt-season in Morgantown, he transferred to Northeast Mississippi Community College.

Not only did Thomas change schools, he also changed positions. In his redshirt freshman year with the Tigers, he became a First-Team NJCAA All-America selection as a linebacker. He totaled 107 tackles, 10 tackles-for-loss, and 1.5 sacks during the 2023 season. He also added two interceptions and two pass break-ups. The Jacksonville, Florida native was the third-ranked JUCO linebacker coming out in 2023 and a thee-star prospect according to 247 Sports.

Despite Neal Brown and WVU football’s attempt to get him back to Morgantown out of JUCO, Thomas ultimately chose to play for Dave Aranda and the Baylor Bears.

During his time in Waco, the two-year starter accumulated 205 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions and three passes defended. One of his interceptions was returned for a touchdown. In his only game against West Virginia in 2024, Thomas had 12 total tackles and a sack.
