MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia football coaching staff has extended an offer to local high school quarterback, Maddox Twigg. The state champion winning signal caller went to X (formerly Twitter) to announce he had received the offer.

A sophomore from just up the road at Morgantown High School, Twigg would be part of the 2028 recruiting class. The 6-foot-2 athlete was named MVP of the AAAA State Championship game, where his Mohigans upset perennial power Martinsburg by a score of 28-21.

Fighting through cramps for much of the game, Twigg accounted for all four Morgantown touchdowns and 316 total yards of offense. He also had ten tackles on defense. His performance garnered him MVP honors.

On the season, Twigg completed 125 of 189 pass attempts, which is a completion percentage of 66%. He compiled 2,227 yards passing and 26 touchdowns. He also did damage to opponents with his legs. He ran the ball 144 times for 1,083 yards and 18 touchdowns. While only playing part-time on the defensive side of the ball, he still intercepted three passes, including one for a touchdown.

The 205-pound local product also holds offers from Marshall, Kent State and Jacksonville State. WVU is currently his only Power 4 offer, but more will likely come for the young star.
