Five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. went live on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday to finally announce his college commitment. He ultimately chose to stick with his commitment to Ohio State. He chose the Buckeyes over Oregon and USC, who reportedly became an option for him in the past 48 hours.
The Mater Dei High School star had been committed to Ohio State for over a year, but had second thoughts when Buckeyes wide receiver coach Brian Hartline left to take the head coaching job at USF.
Henry Jr., who is the son of late WVU football and NFL receiver Chris Henry, had multiple schools making late pushes to try and land his commitment. West Virginia was reportedly in that mix, but the legacy recruit ultimately chose to take his talents to Columbus.
Since the early signing period began on December 3, Mountaineer fans have flooded social media in an effort to show their appreciation for the 6-foot-5 inch phenom. X (formerly Twitter) posts like the one seen below have been shared by Mountaineer fans under nearly every post regarding Henry Jr. It was to no avail, though, as Ryan Day and the Buckeyes eventually won out.

Despite not landing what would likely be the biggest recruiting coup in WVU football history, Rich Rodriguez and the Mountaineers still had a very successful early signing period. Per Rivals, they currently have the 20th ranked class nationally and the top class in the Big 12 for 2026.
