DALLAS, TX – The Big 12 Conference released their annual football awards on Thursday. Though it’s no surprise coming off a 4-8 season, no Mountaineers garnered first, second or third team honors.
However, four WVU standouts were recognized as Honorable Mentions. They were: Scotty Fox (QB), Fred Perry (Safety), Nick Krahe (OL) and Edward Vesterinen (DL).
Fox was a candidate for Offensive Freshman of the Year and Perry was a candidate for Defensive Newcomer of the Year. Those awards went to BYU’s Bear Bachmeier (QB) and Texas Tech’s David Bailey (DL) respectively.
BYU’s L.J. Martin (RB) was named Offensive Player of the Year. To no one’s surprise, the Defensive Player of the Year award went to Texas Tech’s Jacob Rodriguez (LB).
The full list of Big 12 award winners and honorees can be found here.
