The West Virginia Mountaineers and coach Rich Rodriguez have added another verbal commit to the 2026 recruiting class. This time it’s from junior college wide receiver, Keon Hutchins. The 6-foot-2 prospect announced his commitment late Tuesday night on social media.

The Union, MS native is listed as a three-star recruit by 247 Sports and had offers from Appalachian State, Arkansas State, FIU, Liberty, and Old Dominion, among many others.

The sophomore has caught 25 passes for 569 yards and six touchdowns so far on the season for Northwest Mississippi Community College. He’s averaging 22.8 yards per reception in nine games.

Rodriguez has stated multiple times this season that he’d like to add more team speed to the Mountaineer roster. Hutchins definitely brings that to the table. According to his X account, he runs a 4.21 40-yard dash. While that time may or may not be official, his film does display high-end speed. His film also showcases his ability to catch the ball in traffic, sometimes among multiple defenders. He is also a strong route runner, with the ability to break quickly into his routes.

As a sophomore, Hutchins has two years of eligibility remaining and plans to enroll in January, per On3/Rivals.
