WVU QB Jaylen Henderson OUT Versus BYU

By: James Gravley | WV Sports Chat

The most recent player availability reports for West Virginia and BYU are now available. The new update has now listed quarterback Jaylen Henderson, who transferred to WVU from Texas A&M, as out against the Cougars on Friday night.

Also listed on the report as being out for WVU is wide receiver Oran Singleton, wide receiver Jaden Bray and running back Jahiem White, both of which are out the season. Also ruled out is safety Julien Horton, offensive lineman Cooper Young and defensive lineman Devin Grant.

And with the most recent news surrounding starting quarterback Nicco Marchiol to enter the portal once the season is over, he’s also listed as out on the player availability report.

Quarterback Max Brown is listed as questionable.

Running back Tye Edwards, for a third straight week, is listed as probable while offensive lineman Kimo Makane’ole is also listed as probable.

Henderson, who started against Utah last week, did not impress. He three of seven passing for an abysmal 22 yards. He ran it 13 times for only 28 yards. On the season Henderson has 50 yards passing. Those aren’t numbers that will help you earn the starting job.

With that, the expectation is that freshman Khalil Wilkins will get the start on Friday night. And I gave my three reasons as to why he would be a good candidate to start against the Cougars.
