WVU Football Loses Another Receiver to Injury

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia begins Big 12 Conference play this week. Per conference rules, that means WVU must start submitting “player eligibility” reports prior to each game. These reports must be submitted each day leading up to the game, with the first report due three days before the game is scheduled to be played.

For the Mountaineers game against the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday, the first availability report was due on Wednesday. Updated reports are due on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

For the Thursday update, WVU shows wide receiver Preston Fox as “Out” for the game against the Jayhawks. This is a hit for the Mountaineer offense, which is already without receiver Jaden Bray. Rich Rodriguez will have to get deeper into his bench and will be down to his third string wide receivers.

Fox had also been returning punts and kicks for the first three games, before going out with an undisclosed injury during the second half of the game against Pitt. Rodney Gallagher will likely take over the punt return duties.

In the initial report that was released on Wednesday, Fox was listed as “Questionable.”

See the entire Thursday report below.

Probable: RB Tye EdwardsLB Chase Wilson, BAN MarShon Oxley

Questionable: OL Xavier Bausley

Doubtful:

Tight End Jacob Barrick was also moved from “Doubtful” on Wednesday, to “Out” on Thursday.
