West Virginia head coach Rich Rodriguez addressed the media during his weekly press conference on Tuesday, offering the latest update on the eligibility status of transfer edge rusher Jimmori Robinson.
The highly touted defensive standout, who joined the Mountaineers from UTSA, remains at the center of a complex NCAA eligibility dispute.
During Tuesday’s press conference, Rodriguez provided a measured update, acknowledging the lack of definitive progress but offering a glimmer of hope.
“We’re hoping to hear something in a day or two,” Rodriguez said, indicating that a resolution might be near. However, he tempered expectations, labeling it a “long shot” that Robinson would be ready for WVU’s upcoming road game against the defending MAC Champion Ohio University this weekend.
Robinson, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound linebacker, arrives at WVU with an impressive resume. Named the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2024, Robinson recorded 43 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and an impressive 10.5 sacks during his standout season with the UTSA Roadrunners.
