Cam Vaughn Shines in WVU Debut

By: James Gravley | WV Sports Chat

The turnovers on Saturday afternoon were a reason for hope for Mountaineer fans as the offense coughed the ball up four different times with three of those being recovered by Robert Morris. But even with a slow start in the first half, West Virginia came out in the second half and poured on 35 unanswered points in route to a 45-3 win.

Cam Vaughn, who caught a pass, hurdled a defender had a fumble lost in the end zone, but would make it up for that fumble later in the game.

In the fourth quarter, Nicco Marchiol found Vaughn streaking down the sideline for a 46-yard touchdown pass.

Vaughn capped off the game with an impressive 126 yards on seven receptions for the Jax State transfer. He averaged 18 yards per catch, which also led the way for the Mountaineers.

While with Jax State last season, Vaughn hauled in 48 receptions for 803 yards and five touchdowns.

Prior to the season starting I predicted Vaughn would have 55 receptions for eight touchdowns on 900 yards receiving. He keeps playing the way he did against RMU, he could easily eclipse that prediction.
