Scotty Fox Shows Glimpse of What He Could Bring to WVU’s Offense

By: James Gravley | WV Sports Chat

It was an ugly first half performance for the Mountaineers. More so, for the Mountaineers offense as they had four fumbles, with three being recovered by Robert Morris.

With that, the Mountaineers entered the second half with a 10-3 lead. Fans were heard booing Rich Rodriguez and the team as they headed to the locker room.

Whatever that conversation was at the half was enough to light a fire under the entire team the second half as not only did WVU cover the 38.5-point spread, but scored a total of 35 unanswered points.

Nicco Marchiol got the start for the Mountaineers and did not disappoint. He went 11-for-20 throwing with 224 yards and a touchdown. He also ran it 13 times for 65 yards with a rushing touchdown.

Jaylen Henderson did not compete either pair of his passes, but showed flashes on the ground as he picked up 40 yards on two rushing attempts.

However, the highlight reel came from Scotty Fox.

Fox, a freshman, on his first snap of his collegiate career was shot out of a cannon and found the end zone on a 59-yard rush. He finished the day running the ball two times for 63 yards and had one completion for eight yards.

Khalil Wilkins came in at the end of the game to run out the clock.

As for Max Brown, he did not play after suffering a hamstring injury during practice.
