DALLAS, TX – Former Mountaineer star JJ Quinerly suffered a devastating end to her impressive rookie season for the Dallas Wings. In a release earlier today by the organization, the former All-American suffered a left ACL sprain against the Los Angeles Sparks on August 20th.
Quinerly, a three-year starter for the Mountaineers, was drafted in the third round of the WNBA draft this offseason after back-to-back Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year awards. The 5’8″ guard finished her West Virginia career, ranked second all-time in both points, and steals.
She would see her first real opportunity of the year in the Wings’ opening game of the Commissioners Cup, finishing with 14 points, two rebounds, and four assists in just 16 minutes. This performance would allow Quinerly to earn her first career start just three weeks later against Washington, where the rookie tallied a career high 15 points, alongside four rebounds and four assists.
Quinerly would carry that strong performance into July, where she went on a five-game tear highlighted by a 17-point performance against the Aces, where she also recorded four rebounds, five assists, and five steals.
Quinerly finishes her rookie season, averaging 6.5 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game in 34 games.
Dallas Wings guard JJ Quinerly will miss the remainder of the 2025 season due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) sprain in her left knee. Quinerly sustained the injury in the Los Angeles Sparks game on Aug. 20.
