I even stated I believed Nicco Marchiol would win the job. That’s right, win the job. Because let’s be honest if anyone thought that he is deserving of the job because of his tenure with WVU or his loyalty for the football program then you’re wrong.
He’s not owed anything from Rich Rodriguez or the new coaching staff. He has to win the job outright.
Rodriguez even added that he’s not opposed to playing multiple quarterbacks and even noted that all five quarterbacks would receive reps in camp.
Here is my take thought: I believe Marchiol wins this job. I said it then; I am saying it now. I also believe WVU will use as many quarterbacks under center as possible to win football games.
If that is one, then good. If it is two, then awesome. If that means all five on the roster touch the ball and help produce wins this season, then so be it that is good as well. Winning matters. And it does not matter how that happens.
Marchiol has played in 19 career games, starting three, and has completed 71 of 122 passes (58 completion %) for 742 yards with eight touchdowns and five interceptions. I also am inclined to believe that Rodriguez has his backup in Texas A&M transfer Jaylen Henderson.
