The Texas Rangers sent a prospect haul to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for right-handed pitcher Merrill Kelly.
Left-handed pitchers Kohl Drake (Rangers’ No. 5 prospect) and Mitch Bratt (No. 9), and right-hander David Hagaman (No. 13) are all part of the trade package that is headed to Arizona.
Hagaman, a former Mountaineer, was expected to make his big league debut sometime around the 2027 or 2028 season with the Rangers. Don’t expect this trade to really change that within the D-backs organization.
The Rangers selected Hagaman in the fourth round with the No. 133 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft and a year later have shipped him out of the organization.
Hagaman’s numbers this season in the minors aren’t something to boast about.
Hagaman in eight starts this season between rookie ball and Single-A is 0-1. He has a 2.82 ERA, a 0.94 WHIP, and 28 strikeouts in 22.1 innings.
