Former West Virginia standout Tavon Austin certainly provided a lot of memories for West Virginia fans during his time in Morgantown.
Joel Klatt, FOX Sports’ lead college football game analyst, unveiled his top five player performances from games he has called, and at the pinnacle sits Tavon Austin’s extraordinary 572 all-purpose yards against the Oklahoma Sooners on November 17, 2012.
Austin delivered a performance for the ages during that 2012 showdown, which West Virginia ultimately lost 50-49 in a heart-wrenching finish. Austin’s stat line reads like a highlight reel: 344 rushing yards, 82 receiving yards, and an additional 146 yards on kick returns, totaling an astonishing 572 all-purpose yards.
This single-game output earned him the 2012 All-Purpose Performer of the Year award from the College Football Performance Awards association.
