Skylar King Signs with the Red Sox

By: James Gravley | WV Sports Chat

The Boston Red Sox have officially signed outfielder Skylar King to a contract on Sunday afternoon.

King, who was selected by the Red Sox in the 15th round (448 overall), will officially begin his pro journey and ultimately ending his stellar career at WVU.

The deal was officially announced on Instagram. However, the length of the contract and the terms have yet to be disclosed.

His athleticism and speed in the outfield, paired with his ability to make consistent contact at the plate, made him an intriguing prospect.

King finished last season with a .291 batting average, while starting 59 games. He recorded 32 RBI while also stealing 13 bases.

King will likely be assigned to Boston’s FCL squad (Rookie-level) or the Salem Red Sox (Low-A).
