It has finally happened.

The St. Louis Cardinals have called up the clubs No. 1 prospect in JJ Wetherholt to Triple-A Memphis on Monday afternoon.

WV Sports Chat has been all over the news and rumors of Wetherholt. Starting with his MLB estimated time of arrive (ETA) being summer of 2026.

The news of a potential Wetherholt promotion was running rapid on Sunday after his first career multi-home run game for Double-A Springfield, where he hit home runs six and seven on the season. Wetherholt now has nine pro career home runs.

In 62 games with Springfield, Wetherholt has hit seven home runs with another 34 runs driven in. He’s also produced an impressive .300 batting average to boot this season.

Wetherholt was also selected as a member of the NL Futures Game with 17 Top 100 prospects set to compete on July 12 at Truist Park in Atlanta.

Since making his pro debut at Single-A Palm Beach last season, Wetherholt has slashed .299/.419/.445 in 401 Minor League plate appearances.

Wetherholt will likely make his Triple-A debut this week as Memphis plays at home from July 8-13 against Charlotte (White Sox Triple-A affiliate).
