In a shining light this summer on the mound for the Mountaineers in the Appalachian League, look no further than pitcher Tucker DeLisle.
DeLisle, who is currently with the Tri-State Coal Cats is the clubs every day starter on Wednesday nights.
This season in Appalachian League, DeLisle has been tabbed as one of the best pitchers.
On the season he is (1-0, 1.69 ERA) in five games pitched (four starts) over 16 innings of work where he has allowed three runs on 13 hits. He also has 19 strikeouts and 10 walks on the season.
DeLisle best pitching performance came against Greeneville on June 15 where he worked three innings and struck out five along the way in the clubs 7-1 loss.
DeLisle has reached 93.4 on the radar gun this season in the Appalachian League and has a pitch arsenal that combined a fastball with a slider, curve and changeup.
Here is what WVU’s head coach Steve Sabins said in particular about DeLisle after making his pitching debut against Towson this past season who at one point reached 94 on the radar gun.
