The West Virginia Mountaineers baseball team has officially announced the signing of UMass transfer left-handed pitcher Andrew Middleton.
In his freshman season, he made 14 appearances to earn a 4.63 ERA, while going 2-2 with three saves. He struck out 25 batters in 23.1 innings during his freshman campaign. In his injury-stricken sophomore season, he made just four starts while striking out 29 in just 11.2 innings of work.
Middleton is the third left-handed pitcher to commit to Steve Sabins squad out of the portal. West Virginia has gained seven total pitchers out of the portal, with a total of 12 commitments thus far.
According to 64Analytics, West Virginia is ranked No. 17 in the transfer portal ranks. This also tabs West Virginia as the third best Big 12 team in the portal ranks behind Arizona State (No. 8) and Kansas State (No. 15).
