MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University baseball head coach Steve Sabins has been named the 2025 ABCA East Region Coach of the Year, sponsored by ATEC Sports.
It is the second straight season that WVU has taken home the honor after Randy Mazey earned the award in 2024. Overall, it is the sixth time that a Mountaineer head coach has won the award as Sabins joins Mazey (2024, 2019, 2017), Greg Van Zant (1996) and Dale Ramsburg (1994).
In his first season as head coach, Sabins led the Mountaineers to their second consecutive NCAA Super Regional. Overall, West Virginia finished 44-16 and won the outright Big 12 regular season title for the first time after sharing the trophy in 2023.
For the ninth consecutive year, the Mountaineers were ranked in the Top 25, climbing into the top 15 in multiple polls to end the season.
